Puerto Madryn

From Puerto Madryn you will discover the Valdes Peninsula, an area that encloses throughout its extension different unique species that find in the area a suitable place to develop their lives; you will find sea lions and elephant seals and the famous Southern Right Whale.
You can also visit the Provincial Fauna Reserve of Punta Tombo, where the most important penguin colony in Latin America (+1,500,000 penguins) is located, which serves as the habitat of the Magellanic penguin.

*** Within the whale season, which runs from May to December, it is between the months of September and November when the most specimens are found in the area. Being October a good month to observe them.

ITINERARY

ARRIVAL AT PUERTO MADRYN

Arrival at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

ALL DAY PENINSULA VALDES

We leave early in the morning towards the Valdes Peninsula Natural Protected Area. After an hour of travel we arrive at Puerto Pirámides, where we embark for the traditional regular whale watching (optional not included) between the months of June and December or sea lions and coastal birds between the months of January and March. Free time for lunch (optional not included).
We continue visiting the sea lions house of Punta Pirámides where we can see the reproductive colony of sea lions with one hair next to the panoramic views from the viewpoints of the place.
Then we leave towards to Punta Cantor to observe the external coast of the peninsula, the incredible geographical accident that is Caleta Valdes, and of course we will travel the different trails to observe the elephant seal colony and interpret the geological formations of the coast.
From there we start the return to the Carlos Ameghino Isthmus, where we visit the Interpretation Center. Throughout the tour we have a good chance of observing terrestrial wildlife such as guanacos, choiques, foxes, maras, piches and skunks in their natural habitat.

Main attractions: Traditional regular whale watching, elephants and sea lions, terrestrial fauna.
Estimated time: 10 hours – Schedule: departure 07.30 am approx. / Return 6:00 p.m. approx.

Route: approximately 400 km (200 km per asphalt).

Season: July – March.

PUNTA TOMBO – PENGUINS RESERVE

We leave towards the penguin colony of the Punta Tombo Provincial Reserve in the morning. After an hour and a half journey along Patagonian routes, we will arrive at the reserve. There we stay for no less than two and a half hours to be able to visit the Penguin Trail and the Punta Tombo Interpretation Center in sufficient time.
Lunch is free on behalf of passengers and we can make use of the facilities of the place.
It has a Restaurant, toilet and trails to interpret the Patagonian winds. In the afternoon we return to Puerto Madryn.
